Migrate Microix SQL databases to a new SQL Server WFM 2018/2019/2021/2022
Here are the steps to migrate Microix to the new sql server :-
Option A: Migrate Microix SQL databases to a new SQL Server and/or Instance and NOT upgrade to the latest Microix version
[font=]1. Backup your Microix databases via the SQL Server Management Studio (Follow the same process if you have multiple organization databases. By default, SQL will backup the files to your server c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data folder.) Here is a list of the Microix SQL databases: [font=]
MWFMData
MWFMSys
MWFMAttachment
[font=]Take your Old server offline to restrict users still connecting to old server.
2. Copy the Microix Share Directory from the old server and move it to your new server and setup the exact folder permissions and shared name “Microix Share”
3. Restore the Microix databases to the new server with the same attached name as your old SQL Server
4. After restoring the databases, select the “MWFMSys” database - Right Click on “tbl_TableInfo” - Edit/Open table for editing and find the column “db_Server”, replace the old SQL Server name with the new SQL Server and Instance name. (Skip this process if you are not changing the SQL Server and Instance Name)
[font=]4 a. Navigate to ftp://www.microix.com/workflowmodules/support/ and download CreateMicroixLogin.exe and execute on your sql server to create Microixlogin Id.
(Please contact Microix support for ftp User id and password)
5. To point Microix on local machine to new SQL Server name you can follow Step 7 & 8.
6. From each Microix Workstation, navigate to the C:\Program Files\Microix\Workflow Modules folder and edit the “connection.ini” file and replace it with the new SQL Server name. Next, Go to Run = enter "regedit". Once a registry is open got to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Microix, Inc.\Connection] and change the sql server name. - . (Skip this process if you are not changing the SQL Server and Instance Name)
7. Navigate to the local server Microix Share\Setup\Workflow Modules\connection.ini and replace the SQL Server name with the new name.
8. If you are saving the Microix Attachments to a UNC path, open the Microix Workflow Modules Client application and navigate to Maintenance>Global Options > App Options and change the network path for the Attachment folder to the new Server Name where the Microix Share\Attachment folder is located
Option B: Migrate Microix SQL databases to a new SQL Server and/or Instance and upgrade to the latest Microix Version
1. Perform the steps found in Option A: lines 1-5
2. Re-install Microix Workflow Modules 2018 or higher on the new SQL Server. If you need to download a copy of Microix Workflow Modules installer, please send an email request to support@microix.net
3. At the end of the server installation, you will be prompted to upgrade Microix to the latest version. Continue with this process and Microix will download the latest files and apply these files to your new server
4. Perform the steps found in Option A: lines 5 and 6.
5. When opening each workstation, it will prompt the user to upgrade from 2018.XXX.X to the latest version.
6. Perform the step found in Option A: Line 9.
(OPTION B ONLY: If you run into any issues after performing all of the steps found in Option B, you should re-run the server DB upgrade by login into any PC and navigate to the Support Ribbon Menu and select the “Check for Updates” icon. Next, press Shift+ctrl+F9 and then click on the “Check Now” button and follow the on-screen instructions.)
